the Authorized Nuciear Inspector as defined herein.1-1.2 Duties
An Authorized Inspection Agency+ shall perform thefollowing duties.
1-1.2.1 Participaie in ihe ASME surveys of organtiza-tions for which they provide Authorized NuclearInspcction.
1-1.2.2Provide qualified Authorized NuclearInspectors to monitor construction5 in accordance wthc ASME Code Scction III,Division 1 or Division 3,or both.
Part 2 of this Standard is for use with Section Xl ofthe ASME Code,’ including applicable Addenda andCode Cases.
2-1 THE AUTHORiZED iNSPECTiON AGENCY2-1.1 Qualifications
An Authorized Inspection Agency is one designated
by, or acceptable to, the appropriate legal authority ofa state of the United States of A merica, or ProIncei orCanada, that has adopted Section XI of the ASME Boiler
and Pressure Vessel Codie.’ Such agencies shail meet thecriteria of Section Xl of the ASME Code and of theNational Board Rulcs for Commissioned Inspcctors.22-1.1.1 An Authorized Inspection Agency shall beeither:
(a) a jurisdiction3 which has adopted and does admin-ister Section XI of the ASME Code as a legal requirementand is qualified to be represented on the ASME CodeConference Conmittee; or
(b) an insurance company which has been licensedor registered by the appropriate authority of a state ofthe United States of America, or of a province of Canada,to write boiler and pressure vessel insurance in suchstate or province. lhe insurance company shall showits capability to provide boiler and pressure vessel insur-ance coverage by being actively engaged in writing suchinisuranice in one or lIlore of the states or provinces whereso licensed or registered.The insurance company shallalso obtain crcdcntials (c.g., Ccrtificatcs of Competency,jurisdictional commission) when applicable,for theirNuclear Inservice Inspectors and Nuclear Inservicelnspector Supervisors,from the jurisdictional authori-ties that have the responsibility of administering the Stales of America, or the province of Canada, in whicnthe company is so licensed or registered, that haveadopted and do administer Section Xl of the ASMECode.
2-1.1.2An Authorized Inspection Agency shall beaccredited by the Society pursuant to the provisions setforth in Part 4 of this Standard.
2-1.1.3 The Authorized Inspection Agency shall pro-vide authorized inspection scrvice within such statcs orprovinces by inspectors who meet the qualifications ofthe Authorized Nuclear Inservice Inspector as definedherein.
2-1.2 Duties
An Authorized Inspection Agency+ shall perform thefollowing duties.
2-1.2.1 Provide qualified Authorized Nuclear Inser-vice Inspectors to monitor inservice examinations, tests,repairs, and replacements in accordance with the ASMECode Section XI.
2-1.2.2 Maintain qualified Supervisors to monitorthe performance of the Authorized Nuclcar InscrviceInspectors and to audit the activities at sites for whichinspection agreements have been made in accordancewith the requirements of 2-2.2.6.
2-1.2.3 Give written notice to all Authorized NuclearInservice Inspectors of the name,office address,andoffice and home phone numbers of their respective Supervisors.
