1.2 Normative references
The following normative documents contain provisions which, through reference in this text. constitute provisions of this International Standard. At the time of publication, the editions indicated were valid. All normative documents are subject to revision, and parties to agreements based on this International Standard are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the most recent editions of the normative documents indicated below. Members of IEC and ISO maintain registers of currently valid International Standards.
lEG 60051 Direct acting indicating analogue electrical measuring instruments and their accessories
IEC 60068-2-29: 1987, EnvIronmental testing – Part 2: Tests – Test Eb and guidance: Bump
IEC 60086, PrImary batteries

IEC 60485: 1974, DigItal electronic d.c. voltmeters and d.c. electronic analogue to•dtgital converters
1.3 DefInitions
For the purpose of this International Standard, the following definitions apply.
1.3.1
sealed cell
a cell which remains closed and does not release either gas or liquid when operated within the limits of charge and temperature specified by the manufacturer. The cell may be equipped with a safety device to prevent dangerously high internal pressure. The cell does not require addition to the electrolyte and is designed to operate during its life in its original sealed state
1.3.2
nominal voltage
the nominal voltage of a single-sealed nickelcadmium cylindrical rechargeable cell is 1,2 V

2.1 Cell designatIon
Sealed nickel-cadmium cylindrical rechargeable single cells shall be designated by the letters KR followed by a letter L. M. H or X which signifies whether the cell is designed for low (L) medium (M), high (H) or very high (X) rates of discharge, followed by two groups of figures separated by a solidus. When a cell is intended for permanent charge at elevated temperatures a letter “T is inserted between the letter L, M or H and the two groups of figures.
The two figures to the left of the solidus shall indicate the whole number equal to or immediately above the maximum diameter specified for the cell, expressed in millimetres
The two figures to the right of the solidus shall indicate the whole number equal to or immediately above the maximum height specified for the cell, expressed in millimetres,
When a manufacturer designs a cell with dimensions and tolerances which make it interchangeable with a primary battery, the designation of the primary battery may also be indicated on the cell.
EXAMPLE, when applicable:
KRL 33162 or KRLT 33162,
KR 20,
2.2 Cell termination
The following alternative terminations may be employed for sealed nickel-cadmium cylindrical rechargeable cells:
2.2.1 Connection-free cell,, CF
The absence of attached connection tabs shall be designated by the letters CF (see 22.3. figure 1).
EXAMPLE:
KRH 33.62 CF
or KRMT 33.62 CF.
2.2.2 Cells with connection tabs on the cover and along the length, HH
Cells positioned side by side, and in the same direction, shall be capable of being connected in series so as to constitute batterees of different voltages.
